"I will praise God in Song and glorify him with thanksgiving."
From the creation of the world, music has been an integral part of our human expression. When words fail, music and song are able to transport our inner-most being to new heights. As Christians fully engaged in corporate worship, we rejoice in knowing that our voices join with the Church Triumphant as we sing:
Therefore with angels and archangels and all the company of
heaven, we laud and magnify your glorious name; evermore
praising you and saying:
Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God of hosts, heaven and earth are full of your glory; glory be to you, O Lord most high. Blessed is he that comes in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.
Here at Covenant Chapel, music is an integral part of our worship service. We enjoy robust hymn-singing each Sunday from The Covenant Hymnal (©1973, Covenant Press, Chicago) as well as other selections by our gifted Organist and Music Director, Bryan. Born and educated in England, Bryan brings to our church his unique musical ability on our three manual organ constructed by Allen Organ Company. Special vocal and stringed selections are also offered by members of the congregation throughout the year.
As we look to the future, the Reformed Episcopal Church will transition to a new hymnal in 2018 which has been in the works for over ten years. Traditional hymns have been retained and complemented by the inclusion of more recent selections such as “And Can It Be” and “Amazing Grace.” The formatting, indexing, and hymn selection will greatly improve our ability to worship based on the Anglican liturgical calendar, and we look forward to the release of this new work soon!
“Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth.”
